According to a study at the University of California, repeated instances of stress response can result in shrinking of the hippocampus, the part of the brain vital to both stress regulation and long-term memory. To stay mentally sharp and active, it is important to fight this cortisol-related aging brought on by stress. To deal with stress-related ageing, it is important to build ‘stress disruptors’ into your regular routine. This may involve simple activities such as a five-minute break in the middle of each day, during which you do absolutely nothing.
